Prospective Businesses

Upper Arlington could use a greater supply of office space in order to serve businesses that want a presence in our community. Although we are short on land, we are not short on ideas. The good news for companies considering a move to our City is that we work hard to find the right location and financial incentives for new business owners and real estate investors.

We welcome inquiries from businesses of all sizes that appreciate Upper Arlington and feel our City would be a good fit. With our 10-year-old economic development program, we have found that many of the redevelopment requests have met our guidelines for receiving economic incentive packages. These guidelines are simple:

  • Does the proposed project comply with Master Plan recommendations and requirements of the City's Unified Development Ordinance?
  • Has a complete application that meets guidelines been submitted to and accepted by staff and the CIC?
  • Does staff recommend approval of the proposed project and requested incentives?
  • Is participation from the City or CIC necessary to make the project viable?
  • Will the proposed project result in a net fiscal gain for the City?
  • Is the project contractually committed or in the discussion phase only?
  • Has a redevelopment/incentive agreement been executed?

We also consider whether an investment by the city will generate a favorable return-on-investment and whether a company is likely to grow, thus adding a promise of additional revenue in the future.
